i purchased this for my parents who really needed an upgrade. keep in mind this is a budget computer and not a powerhouse. it has a 1.9ghz celeron cpu which has a 2nd virtual core. it comes with 2gb ram, which i upgraded to 4gb. the memory upgrade really helped. it has onboard video and uses 64mb of available ram. i have it hooked up to a 17 inch flat screen and the video quality from the intel graphics are fantastic. windows 8 looks nice but it is a NIGHTMARE and my parents would never get the hang of it. after turning off the secure boot option in the bios i upgraded to windows 7 home premium 64bit. installed sp1 and all available updates. ie10 is still buggy so i upgraded the browser to ie9, which works very well. the computer is snappy and windows open very quickly. i was blown away at how fast it is for a budget computer. the hard drive is 500gb and for my parents, is like a bottemless pit. it has a built in wifi adapter and connected to my network without an issue. i really like the built in wifi. very convenient. ive been in the computer IT field for many years and i would not hesitate to purchase this again, perhaps for myself. very good pc for the budget minded consumer / non gamer.

Needing an inexpensive desktop for an elderly parent, I purchased this configuration directly from Dell. I feared getting Windows 8 because I [correctly] expected it would features that are more marketing-centric than user-centric. My advice, if you value your time at all, stick with Windows 7. Sadly, the Dell-Microsoft cabal doesn't make PCs at this price point available with Windows 7.With Windows 7, this would be a five star computer considering the price tag. Sadly, the true cost becomes apparent when you initially setup and use the computer.

Dell should give buyer a choice of operating system. It only comes with Windows 8 and no option for windows 7
