Dell Desktops are expensive Paperweights
By Carrie Campbell
I have been a long time Dell customer so it was a no brainer when I needed to purchase a desktop for better speed and processing and compliment to my aging laptop. The purchase was made a year ago and the computer just went downhill immediately until it finally ceased working without at least 1 reboot a day if not 2 or 3. This was all before the 1 year warranty was expired. A call into Dell's help just started the next nightmare which was the customary "Script" help desk experience. Very nice people, nothing against the people, but useless help. I was eventally upgraded to at least someone that knew something about computers but that was, again, constrained by script. Because a solution could not be found for why the computer hesitated, didn't responded, constantly blue-screened and crashed, the computer was wiped out and set back to factory settings. Still does not work properly. This seems a clear indication that the computer was, in fact, bad from the start. We try again and wipe the computer out and try to set the computer up again fresh, without factory settings, just the Windows 7 OS. Nope, still does not work properly, still hesitates, still blue screens. Dell is at the end of their script so they say, tough luck, our hardware is testing fine, so you are on your own OR you can pay us to support your software. That's right, Dell claims no responsibility for the hardware not working with the software and has left me with a very expensive not working computer. I have ended up dependent on the laptop that this computer was intended to best. I cannot recommend Dell, especially the XPS Studio, but because of my terrible support experience I feel I can never buy Dell again. If they do not support their hardware working with popular software then they are not selling computers, they are selling expensive plastic paper weights.

Disgusted!
By Thomas L. Marshall
I will never buy another Dell. Within a few weeks of making this purchase I began getting phone calls from Dell with high pressure sales pitches to buy "very important" software to keep my PC running smoothly and to protect it from viruses. I finally gave in partly to get them off my back and partly because they had me alarmed with dour predictions of how poorly things would go without the new software (including System Mechanic). Fast forward six months. My Dell crashed. I called the company and the technician instantly went into a sales pitch for more software he said would solve the problem, for technical assistance with the repair, and for a software warranty he said I should have purchased up front. Unbelievable! The PC is not even 6 months old and I have already handed over more than $500 in unforseen additional expenses. Turns out there was a piece of plastic left lodged in between some components on the video card that became dislodged and stuck in the fan, burning out the video card. What a major hassle! Goodbye Dell, you just lost a longterm loyal customer.

dell xps
By Gordon B. Curtis
I purchased a Dell XPS8300-6007BK from Amazon. From the day the dell xps8400-6007bk arrived, for a week I was in constant communciation with dell with a problem they did not know how to resolve. The problem was that after I signed in using my password, the computer froze up for fifteen minutes. One day a girl worked on the problem but unable to resolve it. Next day a guy tried to resolve it but could not. For the next 3 days one after another tried to fix it but could not. Finally they decided they would restore it to how it was when it left the factory. It now works fine but I keep getting a message that.NET Framework version 2.0 needs to be loaded. I have tried to load it, but it does not do it. I hestiate to call dell because I do not want to have to reset it back to how it was when it left the factory.
