5Super Pleased
By Danny Hinkle
First off, i was really impressed with the system when it arrived. They even included all the spare parts that come with each piece they build. At first i was a little confused with all the pieces. Customer service was phenomenal. I really mean phenomenal. When i turned on the PC, there was a slight issue with the fan rubbing up against the side panel (i'm guessing it happened during shipping) and when i called about they immediately where prepared to send me a replacement to the panel and the fan. Every time i spoke with someone, they were more than nice and took the time to explain every piece of hardware and also how to customize what i was using. the computer hums when it's on and it runs smoothly. I would buy another PC from them without hesitation.

4Mostly pleased..
By Kyle
Lets start with the problems i had and then move on to the good. When my PC first arrived, i got 2 days out of it before the power supply failed. Oh, and when I say fail, lot pops like gunfire followed by a smoking PC! I am told the capacitors blew out. Of course, I had purchased the last one in stock at Amazon so getting a replacement from them wasn't an option, however they did offer to just return it of course.I decided I would talk to Cybertron first before I return to Amazon. I was pleasantly surprise by the quality of the customer service! Techs are very good and very helpful. Anyway, i arranged for the PC to be sent back (FYI, keep the box just in case!). They were in the process of building me a new system while mine was on it's way back, this way the shorten the length of time i was without. They did also offer to just fix mine but i liked option 1 better. However, when they went to build it they were missing a few parts, the 6-core processor, the motherboard, and the optical drive. So they offer to upgrade me, NICE, I actually ended up switching the CPU to a 4-core but the clock speed was 4.2 stock so it was actually a faster CPU (FYI - Bulldozer technology will only access extra cores when the need is necessary and most task/application do not utilize this yet!!) They did also offer me the 8-core but I rejected for the reason I just mentioned. So to conclude, I have had my PC back for a few weeks now and couldn't be happier. May want to consider a better keyboard/mouse, no Network card included either so Wifi is out of the question unless you buy. May want to check if mobo driver is up too date, I had a few technical issues running games until i figured this out! Again, the new architecture of the Bulldozer CPU's.

5Sweet!
By SpaceLurker
Works like a beauty. Much faster than my old machine. No bloat-ware and no problems so far. Still getting use to all it's bells, whistles and options so not much to say. If I encounter any problems, I'll update this review.FYI: comes pre installed with firefox, avast antivirus and vlc media player which was great and convenient imho.

4premium work horse
By The Hawk
This was and is a really great deal! I make a living selling on the internet so this was a great computer for that purpose. Photos, scanning, and internet.. all that is perfect. Others in the house see the computer as lacking memory, storage or the ability to multi-task. Second Life users will have some trouble because of how large SL is of a game/program. No multitasking while on SL. Also multi-tasking of anykind really can be a problem. Want to hear music while surfing the web? Its going to strain to let you do it. The more programs you put in the more stress on the computer. If you are a person who doesn't need all the extras or a big memory or storage and just wants a computer who can do everything for your business then this is it for you. A great price. And a great work horse. Not quite a stallion. A good computer. Also the problems we've had with it were MINOR, this is very well made and we intend to STAY with Emachines!!

4A lot of bang for the buck
By J. Ashley
This was bought back in late 2005 as a package deal: Computer, CRT monitor, and Lexmark Printer for about $350. A great deal. I ended up expanding to 2GB of RAM, which helped speed things up an eliminated some error messages. The only real beef I have with this computer is the sound. I noticed that, from the start, there was an echo in everything played out the speakers. This becomes pretty annoying. All the audible Windows programmable events have the echo. I imported and stored some MP3's on the hard drive, then played them using RealPlayer. I got the same echo. In fact, it actually sounds like what you're listening to (with regard to stereo) is L-R rather than L+R. That is, it sounds like what you're listening to is the difference between the stereo channels rather than the normal stereo sound tracks. I contacted eMachines and they recommended upgrading to another sound board ($80) which sounds like a bogus solution to me. I looked through the control panel settings for audio devices and I don't see anything that controls an echo effect or L+R/L-R options, so it looks like I'm going to have to spend $80 and hope a new sound board resolves the problems. Other than that, it's a functional computer system for a very reasonable price.

5Impressive....
By Ice Cream Man
I've had my E Machine for almost 5 years...and i've put this thing thru HELL!!! BUT, it still works GREAT!!! Well...great for a $400 computer. it's not the best, but to last this long with aaaalllllll the long hours and abuse, i think it was well worth it. Everyone says E's are super cheap and die too soon...well, mines out lasted most "premium" brands. Good stuff ...

1Don't Buy this computer

I bought this computer and the hard drive broke three times in 1 year. I call DEll and they kept transfering from one department to another. They finally told me that my warranty expire and to buy a new computer.

1Dell is about to be responsible for a suicide
By Melissa
Wish I could give half a star. Dell is exacerbating my depression. DO NOT BUY!!! Purchased the computer this summer. Was very pleased for a week, then the problems started. Dell was very good at sending a repair to my house, but an hour after the he left, the problems started again. Every time it is "repaired" the problems get worse. The screen develops random red sparkly lines then goes dark. After being "fixed" sometimes the lines are white. And after the last fix, now after the screen goes dark, if it is left on it will glow white for a while, then go dark again, or the screen will not light at all when the machine is turned on. When it goes dark the programs continue to run, because the sound is there. Dell customer service reads from a scrip, transfers you to India or the Philippines to people who are polite, but must read from a script and are not able to respond when you try to explain the problem. They are limited to sending someone to replace components, the same ones repeatedly, but not to find and fix the problem. Six months after the purchase the machine is unusable. On reviewer in Cnet calls the machine "techno feces"I agree.

1Do not this computer!!!!
By Veronica P. Council
I am sooooooooo disappointed. I bought this desktop and it's a piece of junk!!!!! I wish Amazon would have done a better product description. For example, there in no internal wifi card. Also, I would mention that this is the non touch screen version in the title, not in fine print. What a waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5Its a good machine for anyone who has dreamed of having a mac to edit on
By The Dark Noveler
IN SHORT! This machine lasted me years until MAC/APPLE decided to become the EVIL in computer manufacturing and build machines that become obsolete. There is something said about investing a lot of money into a product that is made to last (like a mercedes, a rolex, a MAC) well its sad to think that no matter how much money you spend these days there are companies out there who are determined to make you buy NEW anytime something changes or anytime they have a better idea. This machine is the perfect Example from Apple computers. They now manufacture machines that you buy and spend LOTS of money on to only become second generation, left to the dust to be on the shelf of unwanted toys.Apple is a brilliant machine, never a virus, never failure in processing and its perfect for editing and getting er done. I have had Apple computers since High School and love them and i am really sad to see how much they have become greedy and not stand and support its past owners. The G5 2.5 dual processor was the first of its kind and it was a brilliant machine. Never had an issue, always did its job and ran the best aps it supported in its time. But if you are anything like me in this current economy, its just not easy to keep up with the Jones' and buy NEW, NOW and current. This G5 isn't a new machine, it has its limitations and it will still do what its meant to do with what it has. If you have always wanted a tower with more processing than the laptops, at least this machine will offer you more support than some and defiantly more support than a PC. New this machine with all the software was 12K YEAH, 12K. To me it was like buying a new car, and I made it back from all the years of work it produced. Now, I have falling victim of the latest processing and the latest requirements for my type of work and needed to move on. But there are people out there who don't know how to do all this amazing digital art and electronic editing, but if you are getting into it, well this is like a three wheeler and training wheels, you will become great on it and learn how to master your skills until you make money to buy the current and greatest machine.

2Not a good purchase anymore
By David
First of all let me start by saying this computer just can't keep up anymore, you'll find yourself struggling to play videos on certain websites and doing any video work takes forever, if you try to export a ten minute video in HD with this computer it will take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours. This computer uses a lot of electricity (600 watts) your electric bill will go through the roof!! And the noise this machine makes is unbearable. If you do anything like open a program or watch a youtube video the fans will rev up to full speed because the computer uses so much power and generates so much heat!! Any intel mac is faster than this. Also this is powerpc, powerpc is not supported for anything anymore, there are no programs that will run on this computer. This was a good computer back in 2004, but it's just not a good purchase for 2011.

4Perfect for light home use
By Dave
The largest segment of computer users are primarily web browsers who use the occasional Office application. If that's you then this is a really good choice. It's small, well featured, and very well built. I've had a few opportunities to use these HP Slimline computers and I've been able to give them a good look over. The build quality is really good - on par with their higher end Pavilions and much better than their Compaq line.Spec wise it's a good machine for a home user:A solid dual core CPU. The AMD Athlon X2 7750 is a good choice for home users - not so powerful that it needs a lot of [loud] cooling but powerful enough to keep several apps going at once without noticing any slowdown. My min spec for any computer purchase is at least a dual core CPU so you can run your internet security suite in the back ground without your web browser grinding to a halt.4GB is more than enough ram, which means you are future proofed a bit.500GB Hard drive. Again, more than most users need but that just means you're less likely to run out of space. Unless you do a lot of video editing your aren't likely to need more space than this anytime soon. (I know maybe three or four non-gamers using more than 200GB of HDD space.)The NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics is probably my least favorite component here. The performance is a little better than the Intel embedded graphics but not by much. You can't do any serious gaming with it and Nvidia has had some reliability issues. However that's been with higher end products and this one is almost certainly fine. Still, not my first choice (all things being equal I'd suggest ATI for graphics right now).Let me be clear: there not much you can upgrade on this computer. It's difficult to upgrade the graphics (it requires a low profile card), there's only room for one HDD, and while you can replace the memory and cpu I don't recommend pushing that too far (slimlines have a very narrow thermal profile and it's easy to end up with a box that gets too hot). As long as you are okay with that, and don't plan on doing any heavy gaming then this is a far better choice than plopping a big ugly box on your desktop.Oh and since this is a good dorm computer... if you are a student check out HP's "Academy Program" on their web site (Google "HP Academy", it's too hard to find from HP's site). You may be able to get a student discount on this or something like it.

5Excellent machine for the average home user - Non Gamer
By M. Su
I've always built my own gaming machines, but for the wife & kids, this one fits the bill perfectly. It's very cheap, hard to build something decent yourself at this price. Small model, saves space on the desk, which is always a plus. Good enough hardward for browsing, casual gaming ( such as yahoo games) and light application use.As with most name brand machines, you can't do much upgrading to it, most of the parts are specifically made for them, so you can replace anything, and with the small form, you can add anything internally. Though for most common use, the specs that's already on the machine is plenty. One common problem with all name brand machines - Junkware. They preload a whole bunch of stuff on these machines that makes the start and overall running very slow, takes you a bit of time to go in and uninstall everything. You can consider using norton 360 and use that to remove all the un-necessary startup programs.Wanted to take out 1/2 a star for this issue below:Keyboard & mouse, the 2pcs that comes with the machine is really poor quality, makes a 60wpm typer go 40wpm. Though it's understandable @ $399 retail price, it's hard to justify including a nice set of KB & Mouse. Instead of including something that very few will use and makes the machine look bad, rather they just exclude it completely, only creates extra waste.

5Excellent machine for a regular user!
By Odysseus Rex
I bought one as a media server for my PS3. This machine runs fine and has excellent performance for the price. I like it so much I bought one for my father who is a casual user. He spends most of his time watching foreign tv stations and listening to foreign radio stations on the internet. He lovs it, particularly it's compact size.I should clarify that on my unit I run Windows 2003 Server and it is adequate to the task. My father's machine is running Vista and it is about 10-15% less in performance.

5Great space-saving desktop
By iPODZ_MADNEZZ
This desktop computer actually deserves 5 stars i have no complaints with it. It runs fast with a great processor and 3GB Ram Memory and has a 1TB Hard Disk to save your media to. I would definitely recommend it if you're on a budget and expect a desktop that is comparable to bigger more expensive models!

5eMachines Athlon II X2 220 2.8GHz Desktop | EL1358G-51w
By akfisher
I bought this one as a gift, but it's just like the one I already own. The compact size leaves a lot more desk space than the earlier desktops, and as I don't use this for business or store a lot of music, only vacation photos, I expect the 1Tb hard drive to be enough for me for a long time. The Windows 7 OS is much easier to use than Vista, and the speed is much better than any of my previous machines. The only drawback is the lack of a modem or wireless capability, but as I already had a spare wireless USB flash drive and there are 6 USB ports on this machine, I had no problem connecting to my home's wireless network. I also had no problem installing a new printer and a wireless keyboard and mouse. I did not use the speakers that came with my unit so I don't know how they sound; I bought a smaller set to save space and they sound great. So far I have to say I am really pleased with this computer.
