5I love this machine
By Ferdosi
Mine has 120 SSD main drive, I7 and a decent Graphic Card. You click and there it is. HD Video editing, Animation rendering, ... you name it. It eats everything up. Max memory is 16 which should be enough for non feature length work. I have had it for only a few months so I can't say anything on reliability but so far so good. And I have had no contact with customer service. I recommend this product

3Its OK
By Renato
This PC is ok for your standard school or office work but it is very bad if you're a gamer or work whit software that require a better graphics card. You can update the graphics card with a better one which will cost you around $150. To do so you also have to update the power supply (500 watts or higher) which will cost less than $100. I personally think this is too much money, specially when there are better deals out there.

1Horrible Customer Service
By JimBob911
1) They withdrew the money from our card as soon as the order was placed.2) The product was not manufactured or shipped by the date promised (5 business days).3) The customer support is all overseas. Attempts to contact customer support in our country were unsuccesful. All attempts to resolve the issue/complaint or gain information about the status of our order, were met with extreme rudeness and a "I don't know" answer. The issue/complaint was not resolved4) Mutiple emails were sent to HP support. Automated emails stated our problem would receive attention within 24 hours, were received. No further support emails were received. The issue/complaint was not resolved.Hewlett Packard was a good company when I dealt with them 10 years ago. They are no longer.Absolutely, the worst online purchase experience, I've ever had. Hopefully, you won't need to contact HP support.

5Now I use my computer instead of the other way around!
By Bighairydoofus
I've been told by my irritated PC using friends that I'm a walking switch ad, but you know what? I don't care. I'd had computers going waaaay back to 1981 with a TRS-80 model 3 with cassette tape drive. I knew about computers, but they never seemed to deliver on their promise of improving our lives. I lived with PC's up 'til last year and finally threw in the towel.

Last year, I realized that I'd spent more time trying to get the various hardware and software to "play nice" with one another than actually doing anything useful.

Fast forward to the recent past. I pay the rather hefty sum (yikes!) and I take my sexy new iMac home. I uncrate this thing and within ten minutes of power up I'm already burning a CD to iTunes. Cool! I didn't like the mouse that was supplied, so I plugged in my Microsoft (gasp!) optical mouse and away I went. Now, you need to realize that I plugged the mouse in while the computer was running and it just worked! If I tried that with one of my PC's, best case it'd just crash. Often as not, it'd necessitate a trip to the grocery store for Doritos, etc.

One thing that my PC buddies like to remind me about (other than cost) is that my iMac isn't the last word in gaming performance. To that I say... so? If you're a hardcore gamer, the Mac platform isn't for you. For EVERY OTHER application, my little iMac can go toe to toe with a PC and usually come out on top.

I use it for photoshop, I've used it to master my LP records and language tapes to CD and MP3. These are things that I dreamed of doing with my PC's but was never able to. I now have an iPod and I absolutely love it. I use my computer every day and don't regret the investment even the slightest bit. I play games (Warcraft III, Diablo II and Everquest) once in a while. I watch movies on the widescreen monitor, and on and on...

Yes it's expensive, it's not for members of the upgrade of the month club, but if you want a computer that behaves like a reliable appliance and allows you to do the things you want to do without an IT certification,

BUY A FREAKIN' MAC!

Oh, and another thing. In several months, the computer has not crashed. Not once. Ever.

5Excellent choice for digital music/photo/video work
By R. Biederman
I've been using my new iMac with the 17" screen and 1.25 ghz G4 processor for digital photography, video and music. I am extremely pleased with it! Much of the credit goes to the software included with the computer (iPhoto, iMovie, and iTunes, respectively), which makes it easy to get started in digital photograpy, video and music. The hardware doesn't hurt either - it has a large and vivid flat-panel screen, and a built-in DVD burner for creating DVDs of your favorite digital videos. The small but unique speakers sound great, too. The iMac has been "plug-and-play" with my Kodak digital camera, Sony camcorder, and HP printer - no drivers or software installation required! One tip: choose an iMac with the larger 17" screen over the 15" model - it makes a big difference when working with digital photos and videos. Are there any weaknesses? Not really - some may say it's more expensive than computers running Windows, but I think the iMac delivers great value considering the excellent software included with it.

5I'm happy...
By A Customer
I've been using IBM-compatible systems since committing to the platform in the Apple II days. After one too many (pick one: crashes / blue screens / errors), I decided to take the plunge on my latest replacement. I have never been as pleased with a new computer purchase. At first I was apprehensive, thinking that you could never get anything done with a 1GHz processor. Well, things are a little different in the Mac world. This is as fast (or at least I can't tell a difference) as my 2.4GHz Dell. I did get 1 gig of RAM. One of the reasons I needed a new computer was that my PC did not have a DVD burner. Within hours I was editing movies and burning DVDs. The interface is great (I'm also using Windows XP on another computer, and it is LAME compared to Panther). I love the Expose feature. Windows users will think it is the coolest thing. Switching users is effortless. I have since added an external LaCie 200GB HD, effortlessly, and and am using the iSight. The iSight works fantastic with other Mac users, but is very sluggish with PC users so far (that's with Yahoo! Instant Messenger, AOL has a beta coming out that may fix it, but I haven't tried it yet). iTunes is awesome, you can listen to radio, download, organize, and burn without even thinking about it.All in all, I am very pleased. I actually enjoy using my cumputer again, and am eyeing the G5 as a replacement for my last PC (you know, "more power").

1Honestly - the worst customer service ever!! DO NOT BUY A DELL
By A Mother's Logic
I would give this product negative stars if I could. My advice, buy an Apple, their customer service is unmatched by any other I have experienced.I have 3 Dells, nearly all the same system. My problems started with the last one purchased. From the moment of setting it up, it NEVER worked properly. We called the tech support - and the nightmare began!!Now I have issue with any company who makes a majority of their money in an American market, whose entire sales staff is all American, or at least speaks without accents, and then suddenly when you call tech support with your valid issues you are only speaking to foreigners with such heavy accents and very little regard for American customs and ways of life.Dell out-sources all of their tech support to India and now the Philippines, which are two countries that are far more economically depressed than ours. This becomes an apparent issue when you are trying to solve a serious tech problem and you are met with the attitude of being a spoiled and ungrateful American, and treated as if your valid problem is trivial. I chalk this up to the fact that what you spend on your computer as one purchase takes them a huge amount of time to earn. I could be wrong, but after dealing with the tech support for over two years, I feel as if I am experienced enough to make that call.Another issue that is painfully apparent when dealing with the out-sourced tech support is that the accents are so heavy that it is very hard to understand what they want you to do, and when you repeatedly ask them to repeat themselves, they take offense. I often find myself telling them my phone has an awful connection and to please spell what they are saying. I never want to offend anyone, and usually on the phone with tech support I often feel as if my valid requests of speaking slowly and loudly and spelling do indeed offend them, and thus the quality of service dramatically decreases. I become frustrated, as do they. I don't blame the innocent support staff, they are just doing their job to the best of their ability and are human. I blame Dell for not providing the proper training for these people, if they are to troubleshoot the American market, perhaps not only computer classes are relevant, but to ease the stress of their staff, accent reducing classes would be appropriate. I have heard they may have begun that, but for this product loyal consumer it is a bit too late.Honestly, that is just the tip of the iceberg, more a point of frustration. And if you purchase a Dell and it has any sort of issue, you will end up feeling as if you are on the Titanic and are slowly sinking to the demise of your pocketbook and sanity. To make an extremely long story short, we bought a Dell that never worked properly, and were told that if trouble-shooting did not work that we could return it. While talking to tech support we were treated as if we didn't know how to turn it on, and were talked down to on well over 100 phone calls with tech support. Out drama began on the first day of setup and has not ended, and our warranty expired 3 months ago with the same case number as the first day of setup. Ridiculous. We were lied to, made false promises, told a million different things, insulted, and we spent about $1500 for the privilege. We were told that there was nothing wrong with it, that it was us, 4 months and 30 phone calls later it was diagnosed with a bad motherboard. Still didn't work, again we were told firmly that it was not the computer but rather the user, 2 more months and at least 30 more phone calls it was diagnosed as a bad hard drive. Still never worked properly and ever since they replaced the hard drive they will not do anything else, claiming that the motherboard and hard drive are the computer and that there couldn't be anything else wrong - except for the user. I reminded them that they repeatedly told us that if the troubleshooting was not successful we could return the unit - and they had the audacity to tell us we were over our time and that returns need to be within the first 14 days, when we made the original complaint we were well within it!! Talk about pissed off!! We gave them the benefit of the doubt and did as they asked, we were treated as if our heads were firmly planted up our rear ends, we were told that someone would get back to us - and they never did (we heard this at least 75 times). We escalated the case - twice and were met with worse service.Having the same case number since before my warranty expired allows the warranty to continue coverage - but no one will call back, as our issue is so great that they send us to several different departments. As soon as the warranty expired on all other issues, they stopped responding to the same one we have had since the very first day. The last week of October I left no less than 20 messages via email and voice mail with 3 different people and to date have still not received a phone call back, and most were with the people that the case had been escalated to, who are supposed to be professional and extremely qualified. My warranty expired on October 26th while actively dealing with the original issue. I have written letters, I have made phone calls, I have done as much as I have he time to do - and they have never replied. AWFUL!!If you purchase a Dell and it has any kind of issue, you are in for a world of frustration. Like I said, we have 3, and the last one was a horrible experience, the first two never had a problem. I would never purchase another product by Dell. If I could afford to take out a full page ad in the New York Times for a year, I would do it to warn others of this horrible company. If I had been paid a modest wage for the time I wasted dealing with tech support over this computer, I could have easily afforded to purchase a brand new, fully loaded, all the bells and whistles, wonderful customer service with an Apple computer, and still had money left over for a spa day and shopping spree. Plus I wouldn't have pissed away the original $1500 on the doorstop that Dell provided me.RUN! RUN! RUN!Honestly, the worst experience with any company ever.

IF I HAD I WOULD NOT HAVE WENT THROUGH 4 MONTHS OF BEING ON THE PHONE NUMEROUS, NUMEROUS HOURS TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED AND I STILL HAVE NOT GOT THROUGH TO ANY ONE WITHOUT GETTING TRANSFERRED, DISONNECTED, AND GIVEN EXT. NO. THAT DON'T EXIST. THE LAST TIME I WAS IN TEARS, BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT TAKE IT BACK. I HAVE OWNED THIS COMPUTER 7 MONTHS. BUYER BEWARE

1If you like hard drive failures, you'll love Dell!
By Wally Wilke
My daughter-in-law bought this computer and the hard drive crashed in a few days! Not taking a clue, I bought one and my hard drive crashed in 9 months. Dell techs came to the house and replaced the drives, but it shouldn't have happened to new machines!

1first and last time i buy refurbished
By M. W.
I thought I'd take a chance on a refurbished PC since this one had such great specs. I bought it from Newegg for 489.First PC made it through windows setup, worked for 5 minutes, then died - nothing would show up on screen, nothing worked. I mailed it back to be replaced. unfortunately newegg made me pay the shipping even though it was a defective product. That cost $36.I received the 2nd one about a week later. Same story - except this one didn't make it all the way to the end of windows setup before showing a blue screen of death and going black. Nothing would show on the screen after that. This time, I called HP support, figuring I'd mail it back to them to be replaced or repaired since I wouldn't have to pay shipping.I've now been on the phone with them for almost 2 hours. Some woman with an Indian accent repeatedly misunderstood me for an hour while forcing me to go through all kinds of trouble shooting steps. After an hour, even though I tried two different monitors and 3 different cables, and EVEN THOUGH BOTH MONITORS AND ALL 3 CABLES WORK FINE WITH MY LAPTOP (as I verified during the call), she concluded that my monitors were faulty, not the computer. (how a faulty monitor would cause a blue screen of death, I have no idea)VERY frustrating - tech support who not only can't understand me due to dialectical differences but ALSO doesn't know thing one about computer technology. BEAUTIFUL.After double checking her documentation multiple times, and concluding that ok, I was right, it couldn't be the monitors, she then decided it was the video card and transferred me to someone who was supposed to be able to help me with that. (it's integrated video, so a video card problem = a motherboard problem). In the process, she hung up on me.I called back. I waited on hold another 20 minutes. Now I've been talking to another person who says he's going to get permission for me to mail this in to be repaired.I've been on hold with him repeatedly for the last hour.Yippee????I'd have gladly paid another hundred or two for a computer that would work reliably from the start. Now I have to face owning one that may continue to break down again and again (based on 2 lasting 5 minutes each). Amazon doesn't have other reviews of this refurbished model yet, but if you check other websites, you'll find others have had similar experiences. A few lucky people get one that works fine, but far far too many are having the same experience I am.HP's quality control is clearly a serious problem, at least with their refurbished models. (To be fair, I'm typing this on an HP mini which I love).why don't i just get a refund, you ask? well because Newegg will not refund this model, only replace it. i read somewhere that hp's policy is they'll attempt to repair a computer 4 times then replace it (replace ti with another refurbished one of the same model? EEEK). Who knows how long it will be before I get something that works. At least if I'd bought through amazon, i wouldn't have had to pay return shipping and I could have gotten a refund and just purchased something different. As it is, I"m stuck owning this thing and wrestling with its issues.Save yourself the hassle. Or if you do do it, pay the extra to get it through amazon and make sure you'll be able to get a refund if it turns into a nightmare for you (as it has for me).

By Mark Demon
I own a new one,Im quiet happy with mine so far I only incounter one problem, theres times when you turn the computer on you will get a blank screen and no sound, simple fix turn the unit off then turn it back on,and it would start with no problem, although I have a friend who purchase a remanufactured one same model, and its worthless,HP costumer service are horible the worst, they will tranfer you to so many defferent department who seems to be dosent know how to deal with costumer support,we also having problem with the dialic defferences,my advice buy a new one from amazon ,instead on buying directly from HP,Amazon will not charged you for return shipping if the product is defective ....
