My computer is used primarily for email and for searching the internet. The Dell meets all of my requirements very easily;however, Microsoft 8 required four hours of work with their "experts" before my email account attachments could be openedsuccessfully.

It's small but powerful and has much hard drive space for its price range. All is well there, but I agree with an earlier rating stating dissatisfaction with the keyboard, which is cheap looking and feeling, and not very sensitive to touch so you have to pretty much bang on the keys for it to work properly. I'll definitely replace it soon with a cordless model. Also, the DVD/CD drive is designed so that it sits vertically rather than horizontally which allows for a smaller overall computer size, but is questionable for what it does. I've had trouble with CDs falling out onto the floor. And there's some kind of flaw that causes it (the CD door) to suddenly slam shut and stop working. You have to restart in order for it to work again, which is a big problem if you're wanting to rip a lot of CDs.UPDATE 2/11/13I've raised my rating to 5 stars. The problem with the DVD/CD drive door suddenly shutting appears to have worked itself out. I've not had any problems with it in the last couple of weeks. I've been converting my CDs to digital files, so it's had a pretty good workout. Converting and storing my sizable CD collection has barely made a dent in the hard drive space. And this is without question the fastest computer I've ever had, which I really like. Also, I'm one of the few who like Windows 8. It really is an improvement. I don't have, or want, the touchscreen. The learning curve isn't really that difficult, so with a little time and effort you'll be zipping right along.
