2Disappointment from day 1.
By Pensfan1
When I first started setting it up, I started getting blue screen and boot errors. Contacted Acer and they suggested that I completely restore the system to the factory defaults and that would fix any problems because they were software issues and not hardware. After restoring the system and updating Windows, I started getting the errors again. I have spent 12 hours trying to get this system working correctly and it is not working. I am very close to returning it for a different manufacturer or build.

3Feeling disappointed since I expected too much
By Henry
I bought this machine based on the following description: "Processor: 3.4 GHz A-Series Eight-Core A10-5700". But it turned out to be a quad core (not eight). Overall, it's a very quiet machine with sufficient power for just about anything. It would have been a bargain with 8 cores. Given this price, you could find comparable machines with six cores. Do spend a little more time reading the description and cross check with other sites (lesson learned for me).

4Acer AM3420-UR20P Review - after 3 days
By cleary524
Bought this desktop PC tower at midnight Black Friday and recieved 4 days later on Tuesday. Product arrived packaged and double boxed. No dents or apparent mishandling by the courier, which is good! I ordered an HDMI cable and a wireless keyboard/mouse with this unit as well. On my 3rd day of owning this computer I like it way better than my old machine of 10 years (HP Pavillion a350n). This thing is light years faster and easier to navigate through the various features of Win7 vs. WinXP. The operation speed and quietness is amazing so far.I reconfigured my entire wireless home network manager on this machine and did so with ease. Initially, I set up my network manager, via Ethernet cable through the WAN. Once I reconfigured all my other wireless home desktop PC's and wireless devices to all work seamlessly together with this machine, I moved this machine to a location where it was configured into the network setup wirelessly through the build-in LAN card. All my home network devices are sharing information and file transfers onto this new unit have gone very well in the last 2 days wirelessly. All my user preferences from WinXP to Win7, including IE and FF bookmarks/favorites have all exported/imported seamlessly along with cookies. All my old MS OE6 email files and contact books (10 years worth) have seamlessly imported to FF Thunderhawk on this new machine with little effort.A few more user preference setting changes to make on this new machine and it will be operating the way I expect it to. The 3.0 USB port are very fast in transfering data. 30-GB in about 5~6 minutes. The DVD disk drive works fine. Programs loaded very fast off disks. Toggling between various open windows is very efficient. I'm looking forward to loading in some of my other program applications that are graphic intense and I expect they will work just fine (I will update review in a few months).I have this machine plugged into my living room HDTV, via HDMI cable and there is no issues with the graphics card understanding the TV's size, aspect ratio or what settings the view should be at. I did however have to turn the Brightness and Gamma down a little on the graphics card becuase it was a little to bright on my eyes. I also brought the refresh rate down from 70 hz to 60 hz to make it a little easier on the eyes. So far I have watched a DVD, streamed online content (Vudu~Netflix~Amazon Online), with no issue wirelessly. Vudu did buffer once on me, but I had 4 other wireless devices streaming at the time, so I can't complain yet. This device is run from the comfort of my couch via wireless keyboard with a built in mouse pad with ease.So far I like it, I will rate it at 3.5 stars for now and will hold off on a more decisive rating until I've used it for a few months and then update my review.***UPDATE 3/18/2013This is a great computer! I've owned and used for about 5 months now. I've managed to catch some malware through bogus websites a few times and removed all suspicious activities with ease. I've gone into the MSCONFIG manager to optimize programs running in the background. This thing is so fast compared to my old computer. The only problem I've had so far was with the WiFi network card. The range on it was terrible, so I used an old Netgear N150 WiFi adapter I had laying around and it worked great...for a while until I had too many wireless signals botching up my signal and I started having buffering issues while streaming HDX content on Vudu. I also had a few buffering instances on Amazon Prime Movies and on Netflix, so I upgraded my LAN by getting a new Motorola SBG6880 Surfboard I got on sale and then complimented my network with a set of Zyxel PLA 4215 Powerwire adapters to connect this PC to my router via Ethernet over Powerwire. Works awesome! No loss of signal....ever, no buffering....ever. Matter of fact, I ran the power wire to a switch and the switch has Ethernet wires to my Blu Ray player, HDTV and this PC all in my entertainment cabinet and I still have 4 ports to spare on the switch should I decide to get a new Receiver and/or XBox in the future, or some other internet media device.Very happy with this computer.
