5HP Pavillion Computer
By Jane T. Kemper
I ordered the HP Pavillion Desktop computer P2-1120 from Amazon after checking other purchasing sites. The price was the same at other vendors but I liked the easy return policy - in case the computer arrived with a problem. But, it arrived in good shape, well packaged, as ordered. I unpacked, wired it, plugged it in, and it has been working fine since then. I am happy with my HP computer - and happy with the service from Amazon.

5H P Pavillion P2 1120 Desktop Computer.
By R. E. WORSLEY
This computer was purchased to replace an older HP that had reached the end of it's useful life. This new computer has twice the hard drive capacity of the old one and somewhat more memory. So the comparison is one of relativity to the old one. There were no problems with the very simple set-up procedure and it was up and running in no time.In doing the change over, it was most evident that there was a big difference between the two units, as far as the weight goes. Looking through the vent ports with a flashlight, it was obvious that there was hardly any "guts" in the new unit. There are no expansion bays and the only expansion possibility is the memory slots, to 8 GB.Also worth mentioning is the fact that there is no SD slot for your camera card, but there are 6 USB slots, 4 rear and 2 front. If it sounds like this is a negative review, that could not be further from fact. I gave it 5 stars because of it's stellar performance when used for web surfing, email, photo organizing, CD ripping and burning, DVD playing and burning, etc. along with Windows 7 operating system with limited (just enough) Office Word Starter w/ Excel. There are no plans to even think about expanding this computer, even if it was possible, as it an excellent performer for the price, just the way it is. The wired optical mouse is another improvement worthy of mention. If your requirements for a computer go far above what I mentioned here, then I would suggest going for a faster unit with expansion capabilities. Two very worthwhile suggestions to go with this computer: 1. Replace your old & tired monitor with the 20" HP w2072 LED Monitor for $99.99 2. Purchase a Sandisc MicroMate SD/SDHC Memory Card Reader No. SDDR-113 for $9.64 that will allow you to insert your SD card from the camera and plug it into one of the front USB slots.Bottom line, I would recommend this unit for the uses that I described. It is fast, quiet and everything it should be. To receive it's full potential, I would suggest the two items mentioned at the bottom of the review. R.E.W.

4Could be better, but not bad
By Charlie Hause II
I got this computer as a gift, my old computer was reaching the end of it's useful life, so my mother bought it for me. The first thing I did was open it up. I had planned on just throwing my old hard drive into the new computer so I didn't have to transfer files. Nope. There are only 2 SATA ports on the "motherboard" and they are both taken. not only that, but there would be no place to mount a second hard drive. No biggie, I bought a HDD enclosure on ebay for 12 bucks. I also bought another 4GB stick of memory for it. The processor is a little slow, so extra memory can't hurt. The computer doesn't come with a power supply. It comes with a plug that is hardwired to the so-called motherboard. It's almost like someone took a laptop motherboard, and tossed it in a tower. The computer itself weighs next to nothing. My old keyboard used a PS/2 port, which are non-existent on this computer. Good thing it comes with a new keyboard and mouse. There are no expansion slots, so what you get with it, is pretty much what you're stuck with.As for working, it comes with a lot of HP bloat-ware, which took an hour in itself uninstalling. But once all the crap (like Office 2010) was removed and the disk cleanup and defrag run, it worked pretty good.Mind you, I build all of my own computers. I spend hours picking what components I want to get the most longevity and bang for the buck. My old computer is still ok, it just has to be cleaned and re-OS'ed in order to run like a top again. My mother decided to buy this one. As an IT person, it would work as a great computer in an office setting or for people who just use a computer to watch youtube videos and check their e-mail. But if you're a younger (I'm 29) person such as myself that might want to get into a little gaming sometimes, you can definitely do better. For the price, it's a good computer. The last computer I built for someone ran much better than this one and scored higher on the Windows Experience tests. This one scores a 3.9, the one I built scored a 7.8 (out of a possible 7.9). Then again, this computer was $300 and the one I built last month cost in components alone about $1600. That didn't include the OS, or putting it together. Components only. But, you get what you pay for... loloverall, I will stand by my statement that for the average user, this computer will be fine. But if you want a little more performance and some increased longevity, look elsewhere.
