Why this PC is unique.

I'm delighted with this PC, and the reason is that it is only one on the market today with a low wattage processor. The AMD Athlon II X2 260u is designed to operate at only 25W, compared to the other low energy 250e at 45W. Most other processors are typically at 65W with more powerfull processors at 100W. It is only bested by the Intel Atom at 15W, but that is seriously underpowered. The 260u is plenty powerful for all desktop applications (except of course games, which isn't relevant to my requirements).I also chose this machine as it guaranteed to have up to 8GB RAM available. I not kidding when I say there are newly released PC's sold today with max of 4GB but because of chipset limitations has to reserve a quarter of that for hardware resources, whether used or not. This is nothing to do with graphics reserved memory which can be dedicated and nothing to do with not using 64-bit Windows 7. It's because the "system addressable space" on the motherboard must be greater than 4GB so Windows 7 can use all the installed RAM.Windows 7 requires at least 2GB RAM, so there's reassurance that this PC will have enough headroom to deal with anything I intend to run simultaneously.

Great All-In-One

I bought this on January 25, 2011. I wanted to get back to the desktop arena because I work from home and 12-16 hours a day on a laptop has its pros and cons. So I said well let me get this. At first I was skeptical because of the processor being under 2.0 ghz but it works excellent for me. I think people now get to wrapped up into speeds. I am not a heavy gamer at all so its perfect for the games I do play. I did upgrade the ram from 3 gig to 6 gig for now. I will max it out at 8gb in the near feature. The extra ram makes a noticeable difference, and if you do upgrade the ram.. please note it does take Laptop ram, not desktop ram! This is a great system and the speakers sound great and the screen is crisp and clear. You will not regret this purchase!

I love this HP Desktop

I really love this HP Omni 100-5050 Desktop. The 20" Widescreen display is so awesome, it's just like you're watching television. I love that it has 6 USB ports to allow me to connect numerous USB devices to it simultaneously. HP has really outdone themselves with this model. This PC is so much better than my old HP tower desktop that I purchased six years ago. I can't believe how quiet the PC is. I hear no hard drive churning or no internal fan constantly running which was always a distraction with my old desktop. The only thing I would have liked was if this PC would have come packaged with a wireless mouse and keyboard instead of the wired ones. It's no big deal to me though. This PC was a great purchase.

Best Value for Your Money

I think the other two reviewers who posted negative reviews of this computer were simply unlucky in receiving defective units. It is inevitable that computers (which are delicate electronic instrumants) may sometimes arrive with issues that may have been incurred during shipping. It is not necessarily the computer's or makers fault.I received this computer last week and so far have had no issues. When you check this computer's specs against other units out there right now, you will find that the cost for what you get with this system is beyond compare. Sure this unit does not have some of the high end features some people like such as a touch screen, Blu-ray disc player, tv tuner, bluetooth, etc... but when you consider that for a computer with those features, getting one will be roughly $300-$500 more, I figured I'd wait until my next computer when the cost will have dropped significantly.What caught my eye about this computer is that overall, it does not lack in any area. It has an excellent processor, great dedicated video card, plenty of memory, georgeous screen, and a fast hard drive. It should be noted that the specs listed in the descriptions on the 1st and 2nd pages are wrong. This computer has a 6GB SDRAM, not 4 like the add says and the hard drive is 7200 rpm, not 5400. So if you see these specs, scroll down a bit and the true specs are shown. This is an error on Amazon's part. For a full list of this unit's specs, you can go to HP's website at [..]The only other small issue people may have with this unit is that is it pre-loaded with Windows 7. Again this is a small thing as Windows 8 is designed for touch screens. If Windows 8 is something you think you must have, you will receive an offer to purchase it for $14.99 after you buy this computer.So all in all this is a fantastic deal. If you are looking for an everyday computer with actual processing speed and power, this computer will exceed your expectations.

Awesome Desktop!

I had brought this computer for photoshop and personal use. Unfortunately upon arrival it was defective, the disk drive didn't work, but of course that happens. I have replaced it, amazon was fast with the shipping of the replacement. So far I love it... it has a 23" screen, 1tb hard drive, 6gbs memory, 4 processors, 3.2 ghz (3.0ghz and up is the best to look for in computers), honestly it was beyond what I expected. It only took me 5 mins to set it up, only one wire to plug in (don't have to worry about all those other wires when you have the screen and monitor). It is very space efficient. Great on mulitasking. You can't beat the price!

A Pleasure to Use Without having to learn a new "language"

AS my eyes aged and visual content invited a bigger screen to enhance the usefulness of a larger monitor, I decided to buy the very appealing Imac all-in-one. Very nice in all respects save one. For a still naive elderly user of computers, it was immediately apparent that learning the language of the Apple, after only a relatively few years since learning Windows, was too much to undertake. Back went the Apple and in came the somewhat smaller screen (compared to the 27 inch Mac) HP. This one appears to be the bottom of the line of all-in-ones, but the screen is just perfect for reading text and viewing pictures, and the computer more than adequate for all the demands of a non-game playing innocent who has no need for advanced features, complex apps, and all that those who have grown up with the digital world require. Setting it up was a cinch, it adapted readily to my Wi-fi hot-spot and. to date has done well what I have asked of it.I have nothing to say about its utility for experts, but as for your elderly, 'learned the computer in retirement' parent, grandparent or great-grand parent, uncle or aunt, I can commend it highly.

Fantastic For The Current Price

I'm not sure that I would have bought this computer at its original price in early 2012, but it's more than worth the current cost since they've cut it by about 50% in less than a year.The i5 Processor is a 3rd generation model, and includes Intel HD 2500 graphics. You won't actually be using those, though, since there's also a dedicated Radeon HD 7570 graphics card in it. Note that it's the version of the 7570 that has 1GB of DDR3 RAM on it, not one of the DDR5 versions. It's good enough to run games like Guild Wars 2 at a pretty good level. You won't be turning things like reflections and shadows all of the way up, but you have to spend a heck of a lot more money to get a computer that can max out all those graphics settings.There are 4 RAM slots, and 2 are occupied out of the box. The RAM is 1333 and can be upgraded to a maximum of 16GB total (meaning you can add another 8).The hard drive is a WD Green drive which runs at 5400 RPM. It runs quietly. I have it paired with a 32GB Sandisk ReadyCache drive (I got that drive from the company as a review/test item, I didn't buy it). The idea behind that pairing is basically the same as a hybrid drive, you have an SSD that acts as the cache for things that are accessed a lot, and then the hard drive itself that offers a ton of very very cheap space to hold everything else.Adding drives is a little tricky because the drive cage is way at the front of the chassis and a small portion (a half inch or so?) of one side is blocked by part of the case, so I had to kind of turn the drive I added diagonally to get it in there before setting it in place horizontally. That worked fine for what I was doing, but I'm sure it'd have been tougher to get a full sized drive in place, as opposed to a little SSD. There was a power supply connector available that was close enough to use, but I don't think I could have gotten a second connector down to that area, so don't plan to connect 3 drives.There's a pretty standard memory card reader thing at the front top. The "front" USB (2.0) and audio ports are actually on the top surface of the case.Though some sources say there aren't USB 3 ports on the computer, there are 2 of them on the back. I didn't look at this part very closely, but offhand I think I saw 2 SATA 3 ports and 4 SATA 2 ports on the motherboard. It looks like there's probably some kind of built-in RAID support on the motherboard, because it briefly shows me a menu as it's booting up and going through the BIOS. Since the ReadyCache drive isn't made to work that way, I haven't looked closely at that option.Also, the computer is being sold new, so it's eligible for Microsoft's cheap upgrade offer to Windows 8 Professional. That makes it a pretty good way to get a computer licensed for Windows 7 now, and a license to upgrade to Windows 8 somewhere down the line if you wish. I think the offer extends until the end of January 2013.The included power supply is only 300W. That's plenty for the default configuration, since it uses a processor, hard drive, and video card that are designed to be efficient (and quiet). If you decide you want to swap in a substantially more powerful video card, you should keep in mind that you might need a power supply that can bring in more energy to support it.Note that you DO NOT receive installation/recovery discs when you buy the machine. When you first get it, plan to use the included tools to create a factory recovery disc yourself (you need 4 DVDs to write on for that) and/or create a system image. I'm fairly certain you can pay Acer a few dollars to send you some discs, but it was easy and nearly free to make my own, so I didn't bother about that.I'm under the impression that these are basically being dumped into the market cheaply because Acer wants to get rid of its Windows 7 machines to simplify its support. I had actually been planning to build a computer from parts, but the retail price of the processor in this machine alone would have been close to 50% of what I paid for the entire computer. Acer is a decent company that doesn't load their systems down with ton of annoying junk software, so I decided to give it a chance.The computer has been extremely reliable and giving me no trouble at all so far. It would have been a lot more work for me to put together separate parts that would play nicely with each other, and I would have had a tough time getting comparable total specs while spending the same amount that this computer is selling for in December of 2012. I actually had a slightly higher budget, but computers that cost a hundred or so more than this had specs that were plainly inferior in one way or another, so I went with the Acer in the end.Edit: A couple of minor extra points I forgot- I ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor and the only real concern it expressed about my hardware is that it won't support the optional Secure Boot feature. It's very common for computers and motherboards to not support that feature (other than computers made specifically for Win 8, it's actually hard to find stuff that DOES support it). This doesn't matter much to most people, it's just worth noting for those who care.- The computer had Microsoft Office Starter 2010 pre-installed. This includes Word and Excel, but not the rest of Office (no Powerpoint, Outlook, etc). There are some ads on it, but they're off to the bottom right where they're not bothersome. I actually have a license Key for a full version of Office 2010 (Home/Business version) that I haven't felt motivated to bother to put in because this has been working fine for me. If you just write some papers or an occasional letter, this should be plenty for your needs, so you can probably skip buying a license for that.

Great Buy!

Price sure beats a brand new one! Have had for over 6 months with no real problems. My only complaint would be when they put in a new disc drive they should have made sure it fit properly, the one in there is too small for the button on the housing to open or close it so you have to reach in and down and fish for the eject button. But other then that (and one freak day when everything showed up on the screen upside down, never happened again though) we have had no malfunctions at all.

Seller went all out to help

I ordered this tower a few weeks back only to receive it damaged and in non-working order. I immediately contacted the seller BMS_Ltd and the person that answers the email asked a few questions and then set up a pickup from my home by FedEx. The seller also set up another PC Tower to be shipped out.While waiting for the new tower to arrive I exchanged nearly 12 emails with the seller just asking for details on how the damaged unit had arrived at my home. I feel that this seller cared about the way it was treated. I did notice that when FedEx came to pick up the damaged tower the driver literally threw it in the back of the FedEx truck.So....The new unit works perfect and I give a big 5 stars to this sellers customer care as they really walked me through this process.Thank You.

Freezing up the first day??? *UPDATE

We just got this today after ordering it from the "lightening deal" for Black Friday. While it looks really nice and sleek, we can't help but be disapointed and are trying to figure out the next steps on fixing/returning it. It has already frozen more than 5 times since setting it up 2 hours ago. It's sad when the old computer we are trying to replace it with is more dependable (especially considering we have done nothing more than go on facebook! What happens when we try to load pictures??) The shipping was quick and it looks nice, so I gave 2 stars but constantly freezing on the first day? Seriously?***UPDATE: I contacted Amazon and they quickly agreed to send me a replacement. I have adjusted my review to 3 stars, and hopefully if the new computer works as I hope I can adjust it higher. The customer service rep was really helpful and earned himself 5 stars, however I can't review the product any higher until I receive the new one. I will update again once that has been received!** Received the new computer and so far no freezing! I am happy we took the original out of the box to test it before Christmas since it was supposed to be a gift. I would suggest that anyone who did purchase this as a gift do the same just in case. We have had the new computer for 2 days now and it works just fine. Looking forward to using it now that it is not freezing or requiring a restart after errors. Big thank you to Amazon for making the exchange process very quick and easy!

Great Computer

Purchased this computer on sale from Amazon. It took about 10 minutes to get it set up. Since the motherboard is built into the monitor it has a very sleek look to it. No messy wires or clutter to deal with. The wireless keyboard and mouse are also a nice feature.Watched videos and played music on it today. This was within twenty minutes of taking it out of the box. The HD picture and sound were great. The TouchScreen is also very neat. It is very convenient feature. It also comes with a digital keyboard which makes surfing the web more fun. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a home computer.

Worth the money

I too purchased this computer on Black Friday and I am very pleased with its performance. Set-up was flawless and have not had any problems with it. The touch screen is quite sensitive - a little insect got on the screen and moved the pointer to it's location! I have played a hidden object game on it and it works great - the touch-screen is really great. Programs perform great. Yes, there are useless programs, but all new computers come with them - delete what you don't want or need. I especially like that there is only one wire coming from it which is the power cable. I have no regrets on this purchase.

You will love this all in one computer

I typically build computers but after researching the all in one computers I decided to take the plunge. Researched the various makes and models for several weeks, both online and at Best Buy and ended up getting the Asus. I've always had good luck with Asus components when building computers and after spending a few hours with this one am quite happy with the purchase. It came with windows 7 but upgraded to windows 8 using Amazons special promotion and it works flawlessly on this computer. Really like the responsiveness of the touchscreen, the quality of the display, and the wireless KB and mouse. It runs very quiet (hardly know its on) and is quite nice to look at. All in all a wonderful machine, and for the price, a great bang for the buck. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Arrived Broken

We received our order in just a couple of days. The box and internal packaging all seemed fine. After unpacking the cartons, putting the computer together, we turned it on and nothing would happen. Called Asus and they wanted us to send it to them and pay the freight. NO WAY!! Sent it back to Amazon instead. It happens every now and then, but I am reluctant to buy another one.

Great All In One Computer

Great screen quality. Easy to unbox and setup. Used Win 7 file transfer utility to transfer files from Win Xp to Win 7. No problems. Hardest to migrate was Outlook. Getting all of Outlook's configuration and support files took a bit of effort. Of course had to reload all major programs since no direct migration route from Win XP to Win 7 64 bit with regard to programs.Overall all very pleased with the ASUS All in One. If you are looking for an AIO, I recommend putting this one at the top of your list.
