When my 3 year old Dell Vostro started having more bad days than good, I began the search for a new computer. On my wish list were lots of hard drive space since I play around with video and photo editing which can take up a lot of space and I wanted one that was faster than the computer I had. I decided on a desktop because in my experience they are easier to take apart when you want to add memory or other things. I also was trying to stay within a reasonable price range and still get lots of good features. Amazon came through again, with the best price for this model than I could find anywhere else at the time. This computer has everything I wanted. It has 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB 7200RPM SATA hard drive (I can remember a time when I thought I'd never be able to fill up 250 megabytes!) and 10/100Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN. It also has a Radeon HD 6450 graphics card with up to 512MB DDR3 dedicated memory. I'm not a gamer (other than an occasional game of FreeCell) so I can't comment how this would do on games.It has Data Memory Card Readers that can read 15 different types of cards and Super Multi DVD burner. It also has 8 USB ports, two of them in front so they're easy to reach. (I hate having to crawl through all the cords and plug panels to the back of the computer when I want to change or plug in another USB device).I've been using this computer since mid August so I've had a good chance to check it out. I'm completely happy with it. It came with Windows 7 which was a move up from XP. There's lots to like about Windows 7 and it's pretty intuitive so it was easy to move to it from XP. Most of my software that I used on the old machine runs well with the new system. The speed is amazing after what I was used to. It takes only a minute or so to boot up and my Photoshop and Corel Video editing software loads fast and it processes everything so much faster. The other thing I really like is that the initial set up faster with Windows 7 than I remember with former new operating systems. The system found drivers for my printer and other peripherals and installed them without my having to find a disk or search them out on the web. I have a Cisco-Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router that it found right away. After all these years, setting up a computer is finally painless, no more "plug and pray" on Windows machines. The new systems are much more Mac-like in their user interface.The only thing I had to add was this USB 56K External Fax Data Modem that I use for my work CRM software to have the computer dial phone numbers. I'm completely happy with this computer and I think it should last me several years. Two thumbs up!Update 7/4/12 - Just wanted to say that I'm still completely happy with this computer. I've loaded a lot of photo and video editing software on this machine and it handles it all without any problem. It's still very fast.

We really enjoy this desktop. It's very quick and quiet, and seems to be a good deal for the price. For graphics-intense games such as shooters or RPGs the video card may be a little underpowered, but we stick mostly to Sims games and strategy games such as Total War and Age of Empires, as well as World of Warcraft and they all look great. You can always upgrade the video card later, but in this case it will probably call for a power supply upgrade as well (not a huge deal, power supplies can be found easily under $50).One thing I do want to pass along: If you are planning on using two monitors, you can plug one in with the cords included with the monitor, but for the second, you will want to order an HDMI to DVI cable. AmazonBasics makes one that is around 8 dollars and it works great, but I did not realize this when I ordered the PC and monitors so I was unable to use my second monitor until the cable arrived.Amazon packaged this well and it arrived in perfect condition.

This computer was my choice for a new computer! I believe this is the lowest priced HP desktop that has that feature without custom ordering from HP. I have been very happy with my purchase. No problems at all. Good processor, lots of ram and an enormous hard drive. This computer even performs some routine maintenance itself.I added an external sound card to utilize my old 5.1 surround sound speakers.I am impressed by how quiet this computer is.Ships with keyboard and mouse.
