5Easy to set up, compact
By N. Folsom
I bought three of these to replace the eight-year-old computers at the tutoring center where I volunteer. The old ones were ridiculously slow and frustrating. These were easy to setup, they work well and are standing up to heavy use, and the all-in-one design means we have room for the good-sized monitors. The kids love them and are better able to get their work done.I haven't bought HP in a long time, except for printers, and I can't say enough positive about how great these have been.

5Very nice - but needs Norton 360.
By Richard Franks
I always had towers so this all-in-one or AIO was a departure. First off, my desk is devoid of cables - there's one USB to the printer - one USB to the mouse - and one USB to the keyboard - and the ethernet connection. That's it for cables! The wide screen is very nice but you have to get used to the scope of everything. The speed is acceptable and the start-up time is very fast. All in all I would recommend this AIO for just about any use in the office or home. After a month-and-a-half of use it still responds quickly although start-up is a bit sliggish but acceptable. I added Corel Word Perfect 6x which is a large program and this takes about 30 seconds to load. But the Corel software includes "PostNet" so now I can add the scanning bars to all my envelopes and labels - so the slow load up is worth it.All in all this is a very good machine at a good price. Whenever you add huge programs and Norton Software the machine naturally slows down so the speed is of no big concern to me.After a few months the computer started slowing down and showed high CPU usage. I had installed Norton 360 which is a fantastic security system PLUS it allows you to tune up your computer by removing dead files and crowded registry. Takes about 10 minutes to tune your machine. Anyhow - using Norton 360 I tuned up my computer and it's back to being as fast as when it was brand new.Bottom line - I think Norton 360 is a necessary item for your computer. Also - I'm not a gaming expert but I don't think this computer handles games very well - I play solitaire every night and my Norton 360 alerts me to high CPU usage which means even that small program is having an effect on the system.I have to say that I never get a high CPU usage during any other uses.Again I have to say the elimination of my cables is a "huge" improvement. I work off of a large folding table in my office and now I have my printer right next to my modem and a nice open box for pencils and stuff. I would gladly sacrifice some computer speed for a neat work area that is a pleasure to see every morning. And - my cat now has room to sleep next to my printer while I'm plugging away at the computer.

1browsing and programs nightmare. very slow. counter-intuitive. I really hate it.
By Po Po
Windows 8 makes this PC a nightmare. This operating system is purported to be "intuitive". To me it is not! I waste hours every day trying to do simple things that I did on Vista, XP, and previous operating systems. It's truly exhausting, frustrating, and depressing to use.I have neither the time nor inclination to search all day for help on how to do simple things.Google Chrome browser was screwing up my PC, so I uninstalled it. Now it won't install; it just more or less freezes with a notice that it "may take a few moments" ...... but never goes past that notice....a half hour, or an hour later, it's still verifying and does nothing else... My old favorite websites, and browsers, are a major headache to use. Back arrows frequently won't work. I often have to close apps and websites and start all over. On most pages in Internet Explorer, including my home page, there is no sign or indication of browser or internet tools or settings or options; no sign of favorites or where to find them.........On Windows Vista I could very easily manage my apps, etc. for my iPod Touch & iPhone at iTunes. Now I can't even find my devices' apps at iTunes, so I can't rearrange them, or activate the ones I'd temporarily removed from my devices via the iTunes site. The PC speaker volume decreases & increases dramatically depending on what program I'm using; when playing Netflix I have to strain to hear it at 100% volume; while doing other things it blasts cacophonously when set to 20% volume... so late at night I inadvertently awaken people...I ordered a Windows 8 "Dummies" book (which hasn't arrived yet), and have never felt so stupid when using computers before this one.Why would a wireless PC come with a cheap, wired mouse, and a cheap wired keyboard?? I got tired of the mouse wire continually tangling and rubbing on papers and books on the desk, so I bought a wireless mouse for it. The only good thing I can find about the keyboard is that the volume control is on it.Other people I know who recently got Windows 8 also hate it for the maddening amount of time it wastes by being so confusing and difficult to use. This is my first PC over many years to not have a Pentium chip. It's horribly slow, and even some regular PC games can be very slow with delayed mouse results; good thing I'm not a serious gamer....Important emails vanish shortly after I've read them; even some emails saved to my "Important" folder vanish.Documents and Pictures are a -itch to use, unlike on older PCs/operating systems.Truly, I never felt so stupid until I got this horrible PC. No sarcastic comments, please.... This is a product review, not a social board.I had intended to stop writing reviews on products because it is so time-consuming, and because people don't waste their time writing reviews when they purchase items at physical stores; and because reviews seldom help me anyway - what gets a 5* review from hundreds can be a horrible product for me personally. Likewise, I'm sure many people will love this PC and Windows 8.
