Proprietary Crap! Hard To Upgrade!
By J. M. Dessler
If you can be satisfied with this computer as it came from the factory then I guess it's ok for the price, but it's a real nightmare to do simple upgrades this machine. First of all, the graphics card that comes with this computer is a complete joke. It only has one VGA port and one HDMI input. That should be a simple enough problem to fix, but this computer only has a 280 Watt power supply. It won't handle even a modest graphics card upgrade. So,the power supply must be replaced it if you want to add a better graphics card. Theoretically, this shouldn't be a big deal, but in this case it is. You see, Lenovo added a custom 3-wire P9 connector for the lighting panel on the front of this computer that no other power supply has. The only way to make it work is to cut off the connector and somehow splice it into a new power supply's wiring harness. Unfortunately, I'm not brave enough to do that myself. Other people have made it work (see Lenovo's community forums), but I'm not much of an electrician. The proprietary power supply is a real deal breaker for me. Their tech support personnel basically lied to me and said any standard power supply should work in the computer. I told them about the proprietary connector, but they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. Other people are having the same issue. You can Google it online if you're interested. Anyway, if you're thinking about buying this computer and upgrading to a better video card you might want to think again. It's not going to be so easy!

So far, so great
By Cajun Callie
I've only had it a few days but so far it's worked fine. It handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat.Setup was a breeze and it's incredibly quiet. It sits only about an arm's length away but the only time I know for sure it's on is when I make it do something.I hooked it up to a Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED 24-Inch widescreen LED monitor via the HDMI connector and the combination of blazing speed and crisp display has been very nice.*** Update after a couple of weeks ***Still amazed at the speed and power of this thing. I deliberately loaded it up with some hoggish programs, starting with Metatrader 4 (it singlehandedly brought my old Pentium 4 to its knees with CPU usage pegged most of the time at 100%). No problem with this machine. Then I loaded my other trading hog, Ninjatrader, with dozens of charts (Pentium 4 could not handle this at all and my AMD dual core Turion notebook struggled with it.) Still did not begin to strain the Lenovo. So for fun I also loaded Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Explorer, Photoshop Elements, and Outlook and tried using them (including some picture editing) while the charting programs were running. CPU utilization never got above 25% during the quick load process and now is hovering between 1% and 9% with everything loaded. Also, with all those programs loaded, there is more than 9 gig of free memory. Everything still happens instantly.I'm not a gamer so I can't speak to that, but for what I do, its performance is excellent+.*** update about video ports ***Another reviewer lamented it's one VGA port. It also has a HDMI port so two monitors can be connected natively. I then bought a couple of Plugable USB to VGA adapters ($45 each) and added two more HD monitors. It now runs 4 1920 x 1080 monitors. As these USB adapters run off the CPU instead of the display card, they can bring a lesser computer to its knees. My Intel CPU Usage monitor tells me it almost never gets above 25% total CPU usage (average of the 8 virtual cores) and it usually hovers at less than 5% with all four screens loaded with a multitude of charts. The add-on screens look great and I can move windows and scroll with absolutely no delay or stuttering. So, for an extra 90 bucks, this puppy can easily run 4 HD displays no sweat.

Great higher-end business computing
By Lee Cascio
I will post back later with how this computer does over some time. So far I am impressed with value in terms of the CPU, memory, disk space, number of USB and other connections... This box might disappoint if you are a gamer, the video card does not seem high end enough for intense FPS rates and as another poster pointed it out, it has a VGA and an HDMI connection, so if you want multiple monitors you need to use display link (which is fine for my business application but not gaming), or buy a better vid card. This is probably why this box seems like such a great deal. For business apps, heavy duty excel data crunching, database and software development, this is perfect. This is the first PC I have bought in the last 15 years or so that has not come loaded with crapware. This thing reboots in 30-45 seconds!!! I only uninstalled one thing, an already paid for full trend micro subscription (I use a different security package). This very clean PC saved me up to a day of uninstalling crap or doing a fresh install of the operating system and then having to update all the drivers and system software. Thank you Lenovo for having some respect for your customers!
