I bought this computer as a gift for my mom when my old Laptop died. This computer is VERY fast. There is a LOT of bloatware that comes pre-installed (MS Office 2007 Trial, Norton Anti-Virus Trial, Various Games Trial, etc) and I recommend you remove these trials and install your own programs.As a Computer Technician, I know my stuff. And I FULLY recommend this computer highly.In short this is a good basic and inexpensive computer for that works wonders for Internet use, MS Office, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly with the reviewer *Paglia* who recommends this desktop as well. It is much lighter than my older desktop, yet it feels strong and well built. I mention this because some of the newer desktops look and feel flimsy, as if they could be blown over by a feather......not so, with this one. It doesn't get hot and bothered either.It is extremely fast for my needs and I can open many windows without any delay in speed. It is also very quiet, one of the most quiet desktops I've ever owned. It comes pre-installed with lots of goop and all the essentials as well. I just remove the goop and add a few ingredients of my own... I don't do any *gaming* so I can't vouch for that, but there seems to be more than enough space for my needs.The price is great and the machine is perfect. For everyday personal or business needs, this desktop is your best bet...... HAPPY COMPUTING !!!

This new machine, a Compaq CQ5110F, worked fine for about one week, after expending a lot of effort loading and updating new software, and transferring files from my old computer.Then the machine started acting erratically (Blue Screen of Death) and it turned out to be a problem with the memory. On line searches of the "BIOME-1" error code shows that other folks have the same problem with Compaq or H-P devices so I feel this happens more often than it should. My machine was also powered through a surge suppressor.HP wants me to ship the computer to a service center instead of just having it serviced locally. Also, I am now on my third go around with their support folks to get a shipping label and shipping box delivered. They keep promising it but nothing is delivered.The machine seems great when it works but now I question its reliability. And H-P support is poor.Followup November 16th:The problem turned out to be a bad 1GB RAM module. So from the time the problem occured it took 3 phone calls (3 weeks) to get HP Service to send out a box and shipping label, at their expense. Package and ship the computer FedEx overnight at their expense, one day to fix and about 6 calendar days to return by Fedex ground, all on their nickel. I've been using it about a week and a half with no problems.Followup December 18th: The computer has continued to work fine. No problems now..
