Nice and Sleek All-inOne
By nextep
Bought this on Amazon 2 mths ago. Shipment arrived on time, and in good conidition.Unit was really easy to install and configure, and works like a dream out of the box. Everyone at home loves using it. Great value, and AMD performance does not seem to be any inferior to Pentium on this one.Small glitch with the system just a week ago, system just refused to boot up and had to call tech support, they quickly determined that it was due to static electricity and MS Windows. Unplugged and plugged the power supply, rebooted, installed the new MS Service pack, and it has been working well since.Would have given this 5 stars if not for this problem.

Worst computer ever
By G. S. Noble
I had this computer for less than a month and was more relieved than surprised when it died. There were numerous errors with the touchsmart software that HP puts on the machine. It would open each time the monitor went on standby, but never completely load, rendering the computer inoperable until it was restarted. After a couple weeks, the machine started intermittently failing to power on. I called support and spoke to a completely worthless individual from India who suspected my surge protector (even though the 3 other pieces of hardware plugged into it still worked). I spontaneously powered on while I was on the phone so I replaced the surge protector with a UPS the next day and the machine worked for another 4 days before completely surrendering to the inevitable and refusing to ever come to life again. In all fairness, I liked the design of the unit, specifically the way the wires were all hidden out of sight and the mordern look of the sleek black cpu/display. The wireless keyboard was decent as was the mouse. The touchscreen was OK, but they could learn a lot from the iphone as the accuracy was quite lacking and hitting a small target such as a web browser tab was sometimes difficult. Apparently Apple is way ahead on that technology as it seems much easier to tap what you're aiming for on the ipod touch and iphone.I sent the dead HP back and ended up buying Gateway's comparable touch screen model. After a week, it seems better than the HP in most aspects. The HP had a better keyboard and mouse than Gateway and to me a more appealing look. But frankly if the Gateway only makes it a year, there's still no other comparison that matters. It's going to be a long time before I buy another HP computer.

Not as bad as some say...
By D. Milburn
I have had this computer model for about 6 months now - my last 7 computers have been Dell's and ASUS's so buying a HP was a change up. This HP system has ran great with only minor issues you'd encounter on any computer from any manufacture that were easily fixed on my end. For example I had the built-in wireless adapter stop working, the computer completely failed to see it at all - it just stopped working all together. After running all the diagnostics which failed to find the problem, I ran a system restore from Windows and that didn't work so I ran one from boot-up (F 11) and that fixed the problem as the boot-up restore is far better than the Windows shell restore. The only other issue I've had was the OEM factory mouse wheel stopped working, not really liking the factory mouse anyway I didn't care and used another one I did like. For me the touch screen is neat but nothing I really use much - just not use to it I guess. I like the small footprint of the PC and it works great on a side table in the TV room to surf and watch TV if you want to be completely worthless or like I prefer to do which is get a little work done while I watching the news in addition to being occasionally worthless. The system is quite and doesn't put of a lot of heat - there is a little heat, it's just not like a space heater. The AMD Athlon II processor runs quickly with 4 GB DDR3 Ram and the screen is nice and bright - one beef I have with that is that it doesn't save the brightness level you set the screen at when it hibernates so you have to turn it back down every time it wakes up - that is annoying in a dark room. Enough memory for all the programs I run at the same time and some of the HP software is nice - a little bloaty but what's new with that?It has enough USB ports, media readers for most cards, CD/DVD-RW, built-in mic, webcam, speakers with ports for externals and an Ethernet port. It comes with a basic wireless keyboard and mouse, the mouse is lacking as I've stated. One thing to be aware of is the mouse uses 2 AA batteries and the keyboard uses 2 AAA batteries - why they couldn't make them use the same is beyond me, but it's not a issue.Comes loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit which is decent, but while Microsoft claims if will run 32 bit software just like XP - it doesn't on some programs. Something to be aware of if you haven't had a 64 bit OS before. Games like Civ IV and SimCity 4 will not run properly without a lot of tweaking and even then they crash repeatedly to the point you just give up running them under Win 7. Other older programs like Adobe Photoshop 7 and MS Office 2000 run fine.So my HP TouchSmart PC ran fine right out of the box and I haven't had anymore problems out of it than I have had from any other computer from any other manufactures - maybe I got lucky which would be a new one for me or some others got lemons and spoke up? Every PC manufacturer makes a few lemons, some just make more than others.UPDATE: I originally gave this system 5 stars but I just had a couple of keys on the wireless keyboard become buggy to the point I'm having to replace it so while the PC itself has been what I expected the cheap keyboard and mouse cost this unit a star. They are both basic no frills but neither lasted more than 6 months. Wireless connection was fine, just parts of them stopped working properly. Typical OEM stuff - cheap. So I can recommend this PC and I'm giving it 4 stars overall, less a 1 star for minor problems typical of any PC and cheap OEM keyboard and mouse.
